The western basin is a walleye fishery of national importance. Spring brings the spawning run onto the reef complexes and into the Maumee and Sandusky rivers; summer fish scatter and are trolled with crawler harnesses and crankbaits; autumn is a second peak. Yellow perch fishing peaks around late summer and early fall, and smallmouth bass are caught around the islands.
How to fish it
